Our heart toward things we do have

What to think about self: [head?  or is this heart?]

Don’t be conceited (1 Tim 6:17)

Everything we have is from God (1 Cor 4:7)

We are just stewards (_______)

Even though diligence is good (Prov 10:4), even our ability to earn wealth is from God (Deut 8:18)

 

What to want or hope in: [heart]

Don’t set heart on increased riches (Psalm 62:10)

related (or equivalent to…)

Don’t put hope in riches (they’re so uncertain), instead put hope in God who richly blesses us with all things to enjoy ( :O !  ) (1 Tim 6:17, Prov 18:11)

Invest so our heart is in heavenly treasure.  (Matt 6:19-21)

Interesting!  He’s not saying don’t want God’s gifts.  He’s saying hope in the Giver!

He’s not saying don’t want treasure.  He’s saying get lasting treasure, so our heart will be set on heaven.

 

What to do: [hands]

Make eternal investments (Matt 6:19-21, 1 Tim 6:19) [or should this go under ‘if don’t have possessions yet’]

Be rich in good works (1 Tim 6:18)

…especially toward those in need (1 John 3:17)
