Not simply because He is powerful

a being can be powerful or in control and yet still not deserve our obedience (consider a physically strong person, or a gang leader)

we may want to obey them because it’s a good idea!  But that is different from owing them obedience

because he is the owner?

[scriptures about how He made / owns all things]

He is the maker and therefore owner, Psalm 100:3?

add heart layer post… That this is actually a comfort! Cf Heidelberg Catechism 1: http://www.heidelberg-catechism.com/en/lords-days/1.html

Rev 5:12-14

His relationship with creation

His relationship specifically with humans, expressed in covenants

[cf. Westminster: To Him is due from angels and men, and every other creature, whatsoever worship, service, or obedience He is pleased to require of them.]
